FLOATING BOATHOUSE
Second Year Architecture
The Lady Bird Lake in Austin, Texas, is one of the city’s attractions. It is mainly used for kayaking. With views of the lake and the city, the design intent was to have an open yet enclosed boathouse. The facade of the boathouse is not only to enclose and shade but also to use for the kayak storage. The screen system is wood louvers that would go in to form a place holder for the kayas. The boathouse also has a rainwater storage container and solar panels, making the boathouse economic and energy-efficient.
